All of sudden we decided to visit the Lotus Temple. Like everyone we just thought about its magnificent architectural beauty but the real beauty lies inside the Worship Hall. People usually think what is interesting inside the worship hall but by doing deep study behind the concept of Lotus temple the real meaning of the religious place will come out from our soul.
When we entered the complex we find a T-point. At the right side there was the Information Center and on left side magnificent Lotus Temple. There was an impressive poster which says ” We use 300000 liters of recycled water every day to maintain the greenery of the complex.”
We will highly recommend you to visit information center before Lotus Temple because Information Center is a place which explains the meaning of Lotus temple and its faith. Thus we visited the Information Center first.
About Infomation Center
Information Center is a well-maintained place, which speaks about the mankind and final approach of every religion is at one point from different approaches. Messages from every religion are listed at the entrance. The staff present there were very corporative, they explain everything about the place beautifully.
When I entered the complex of the Lotus temple I have seen a word Baha’i. Here I come to know about the concept of Baha’i Tradition. The most interesting thing about the staff was their approach to deal with people. Most of the people of the staff in the information center were giving their service voluntary.
Baha’i Tradition And Spread Of Brotherhood
History of the Baha’i Faith
The faith started from Persia (Iran) in the city of Shiraz by a young merchant Ali Muhammad (1819-1850). History knows him as Báb, which means ” the Gate”. In 1844 he announced that in this modern era a great divine teacher would arise. That teacher spread the message of peace and unity in the world. Báb purpose was to be the gate of this messenger of God.
Bahá’u’lláh was born in 1817 in Tehran. He belongs to a wealthy family but has no interest in wealth and spends time with poor and sick people. He was called the “Father of Poor”. Bahá’u’lláh became a follower of Báb faith.
Bahá’u’lláh was imprisoned and exiled from the Persia towards the west to Baghdad, Constantinople (Turkey) and finally to the prison city Akka, Palestine now Israel. Through forty years of his exile Bahá’u’lláh spreads the teaching of unity continuously.
Before his death, he appoints his eldest son, Abbas Effendi to become the center of the Bahá’í Faith. He took the title of Abdu’l-Bahá’, which means servant of Bahá’. He spreads the message of Bahá’í Faith among a large number of people and the followers of the faith increase a lot during his time. He appoints his grandson, Shoghi Effendi Rabbani the Guardian of the Bahá’í Faith.
Guardian Of Bahá’í Faith
During the Shoghi Effendi’s Guardianship, the Bahá’í Faith spread globally. He studies from Oxford University and translated many of Bahá’u’lláh’s writings from Arabic and Persian to English. It is said by one of the staff members of information center that while translating the writings he started crying because of not be able to translate the words of Bahá’u’lláh exactly. Shoghi Effendi spreads the faith to the new level of maturity.
He created the system of institutions to guide the affairs of the Bahá’í communities at the local, national and international levels. After the passing of Shoghi Effendi, The Universal House of Justice at Haifa, Israel guides the Bahá’í’s of the world
The Bahá’í Faith
The Bahá’í Faith respects all the religious believes i.e God is one. It brings the people of different faiths, region, religion under one umbrella. Their main motive is the spread the message of brotherhood, mankind, eliminate extreme wealth and extreme poverty.
People of a different region, religion, faith joins the Bahá’í Faith just to spread the message that the earth has only one country.
“Be a Bahá’í simply means to love all the world; to love humanity and try to serve it; to work for universal peace and universal brotherhood.” – Abdu’l-Bahá
Lotus Temple The House Of Worship
The architect of Lotus temple was Mr. Fariburz Sahba. The construction of this House of Worship (Lotus Temple) began on 21st April 1980. When the task was appointed to Mr. Fariburz Sahba he spends 2 years to visit every corner of India. Architecture of Lotus Temple
The temple has total 27 petals and 9 pools of water. We headed towards the worship hall of the temple. The Ventilation system of the hall was based on the natural flow of air. The 9 pools of water are there when air flows through them it gets cool and cool air entered the hall through ducts. So there is no need of ACs and fans inside the hall.
We entered the hall having the capacity of about 1300 people. We spend some time in meditation inside the worship hall. At the front stage, some people of Temple sings the prayers. The worship hall gives the feeling of calm and proud of mankind especially after knowing the faith which believes in every religion but is independent world religion spread the concept of brotherhood. The attractive architecture and interesting stories behind the Bahá’í Faith we left the complex.
That which the Lord hath ordained as the sovereign remedy and mightiest instrument for the healing of all the world is the union of all its people in one universal Cause, one common Faith.
The Bahá’í’s have created temples in many countries and the most interesting thing is that the architecture of the temples is inspired by the culture of the respective country.
